Command Confirmation

Previous  Next

Direct Access can confirm commands in different ways that come to use in different contexts.

No confirm: the command is executed as soon as the last character of the abbreviation is typed. This is the fastest way to launch commands. It's better to prepend an abbreviation with a special character, like #, to prevent unwanted triggering. For example, you can use #note instead of note to launch notepad.

Confirm key: when an abbreviation is detected, Direct Access displays a tooltip asking for confirmation, and reminds you of the confirmation key. If you press the key (SHIFT), Direct Access performs the task. If you just keep working, the tooltip vanishes. The confirmation key can be changed in the Abbreviation options.

Confirm key: pressing SHIFT launches Microsoft Word.

Delimiter chars: the command is executed upon typing a delimiter char (like SPACE, ENTER, TAB or any punctuation mark) after typing the abbreviation. This option is mainly used for autocorrections.

Delimiter chars: pressing SPACE after the abbreviation triggers the text substitution

NOTE: You can change the size of the confirmation tooltip for better visibility.
