app Start an application, or open a document or a folder.

 

Option

Description

Path

Path of the application, a folder, or document. You can run many applications at once, separating their paths with the ; character.

For example, to create a command that opens both notepad and the calculator, enter:

c:\windows\notepad.exe;c:\windows\system32\calc.exe

-File or document: choose a file or document you want to execute
-Folder: choose a folder
-Special Folders: choose a special folder from the list
-Active applications: choose an application among the list of the active ones

Parameters (optional)

Pass these parameters to the application. Typically, used to start an application with a certain document.

Run in (optional)

Launch the application from this folder. Required by certain applications.

Window style

Display the application in this kind of window: Normal, Minimized, Maximized

Run as admin

This option is displayed in Windows Vista only and allows for running the application as Administrator

 

Description

Description of the Command shown in the Commands Panel. Click reload (or press CTRL+SHIFT+D) to update the description, remove-command to remove it

Abbreviation

Typing this in any application triggers the Command.

 

Click reload (o press CTRL+SHIFT+D) to update the command according to the description, remove-command to remove it

 

You can assign the same abbreviation to many commands. The abbreviation displays a menu when triggered.

 

If the abbreviation is already used by another command or group, a warning icon is displayed. duplicate-abbreviation. Direct Access displays also a list of the commands that use the abbreviation.

 

NOTE: you can assign multiple abbreviations to the same command clicking on plus button and typing a new abbreviations. Multiple abbreviations are separated by the | character.

For example the abbreviation no|note|notep invokes the command when you type any of the following:

-no
-note
-notep

 

Confirmation

Commands can be confirmed in different ways:

 

No confirm: the command is executed immediately after the abbreviation is typed.

 

Confirm key: the command is executed after the confirm key (default is SHIFT) is pressed, after typing the abbreviation.

 

Delimiter chars: the command is executed upon typing a delimiter char (like SPACE, ENTER or any punctuation mark) after typing the abbreviation. This option is mainly used for autocorrections.

execute Execute

Execute the command.

insert  Insert

Inserts a macro to perform advanced tasks like requesting data at execution time or inserting a special text.

commands-scroll

Navigate up and down through the commands. Two keyboard shortcuts are defined for navigation.

CTRL+UP: moves to the previous command

CTRL+DOWN: moves to the next command

commands-confirm Save

Saves the command and completes the operation. Changes are also saved when clicking outside the edit panel.

commands-cancel Cancel

Cancels the edit operation.
