The text you want to copy is in HTML format. Direct Access autotext can only interpret simple text, that's why the copied text does not have any formatting.

The upcoming version of Direct Access will support HTML text and will let you perform what you requested.

After reading positive postings on Donation Coder and other sites, I downloaded the program and like what I am finding. However, one thing I haven't been able to find is anything to guide me in putting an active url within the context of a paragraph of text.

Right now, within Outlook, I have several "canned" emails saved as drafts which I simply copy and paste amd then send to thank visitors to my website. These emails contain clickable urls.

Example:
Thank you for taking the time to visit www.AtHomeInKokomo.com and signing my guest book. As a way of saying thank you for visiting my website, I’m sending you a link to my June Newsletter. It is packed with useful information about home ownership. I hope you enjoy it!

In the example above, both www.AtHomeInKokomo.com and Newsletter are clickable. Is there a way to do that in DA?

I did find information about saving a url as auto-text, but not about saving one as active within a paragraph.

Any help will be appreciated!
That may be related to the hook component that monitors the keystrokes pressed but I wasn't able to reproduce that behavior on my machine.

A number of things on the way keystrokes are handled will change in v.2.0. I'll let you know when a beta is available.

No - one is running XP Pro SP2 and was custom-built by Falcon Northwest. It is extremely high-end. The other is a brand new Dell XPS M-1330 notebook running Vista Ultimate.

Quote:

Maybe there are some applications applications preinstalled that can interfere with Direct Access.

Nope - the Falcon Mach V was shipped with only the specific software that I requested to be pre-installed. Most of that is hardware-related, such as the WinTV software that runs with the Hauppauge TV Tuner, etc.

The Dell, believe it or not, also had very little "junkware" pre-installed. It did have some software packages that came with the box, like Adobe Photoshop Elements Premier 6. Also had Microsoft Office 2007 Professional pre-installed.

Also, the Dell was doing this before I had installed much at all myself.

Quote:

Do you keep Direct Access minimized on the tray? Do you keep the hub visible?

Yes - exactly. Direct Access is started minimized at Windows startup on the Dell notebook, and it starts 15 minutes after Windows startup on my desktop - I have it scheduled that way using Chameleon Startup Manager on the desktop, mainly because DA takes so long sometimes if it starts with Windows. Must be battling then over a DLL with something else. But the on the notebook it starts with Windows. The hub is using the larger size icon and is visible in the lower right part of the screen on both.

Quote:

I didn't have any other people reporting this issue.

I can't help that - I can only report what is happening on both my machines. Nothing in any logs I have found say that DA causes it, but if I either close DA, or if I use the Shift+Esc hotkey I can then type in all other applications.

I have the Sample set of commands installed, along with the Microsoft Word Autocorrect commands and my own shortcuts. None of my own are imported, but were all created by me one by one. I also created some application commands and placed them in the same folder as the Sample application commands.

Subject: How to Remove the Focus Taskbar Script?
Topic Replies: 4

Andrea,

I posted about this a few months ago with this thread, but I would like a better fix than the Shift+Esc shortcut you mentioned.

This is the most annoying part of using DA for me. When I first logon to Windows I cannot type into any open dialog in any application until I do either of two things:

1) Close DA and then reopen it later -- after I have typed into a dialog.

1) Right-click on the DA systray icon and get the context menu. Then use the Shift+Esc shortcut.

Until I do one of those I cannot enter text into any dialog. Instead, as soon as I bring a dialog into focus by placing the cursor in a text entry box and then press any key on the keyboard, the window/dialog dims (as in, not in focus) and I cannot type into it.

This was happening on my desktop PC running Windows XP Pro SP2 when I posted that thread. However I also installed DA on my old Dell Inspiron 8600 notebook, also running XP Pro SP2, and it did the same thing.

Since then I purchased a new notebook, a Dell XPS but this time running Vista Ultimate. Much to my surprise it is also doing the exact same thing!!

Now I can see if it is simply a conflict with something in my two XP Pro computers because I do have a lot of the same applications on them. But the new Dell running Vista has almost all different software on it. Some of my favorites aren't yet able to run on Vista, and some can't be installed until I remove them from the older notebook.

So this is another computer but not very similar in setup at all to the other two that had this problem with DA. As for whether or not it actually IS DA causing the issue, I suspect it because either exiting DA or using the unload key combo for the toolbar command script completely cures the issue.

Until I restart the computer, of course. Now this is not a killer problem at all, since I can overcome it without a whole lot of effort, but it is definitely annoying!

Andrea, remember I had that problem with line feeds not being picked up after executing DA commands in some programs? The solution, at least until it is discovered why that occurs, was to have DA use the clipboard to enter the commands' text? I am using DA configured like that on both my desktop and new notebook computers. Also, when DA was installed on the old notebook that was also configured to use the clipboard. Since that is the only DA-related similarity between in desktop and new notebook computers, is it possible that is somehow mixed in with this issue?

If not, could you at least take a look at this issue for me? I will send you any and all logs from both computers that you might need.

Thank you.

Jim
